A beggar from the Anuradhapura town tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday (8), confirmed the Anuradhapura Officer in Charge (OIC).
“A special operation was carried out to detect 81 more beggars in Anuradhapura with whom he associated and to take them for quarantine,” he stated.
Further, he noted that the Anuradhapura Municipal Council has taken steps to arrest and quarantine 81 beggars in Anuradhapura with the assistance of the Police.
The beggar (80) was diagnosed with the Covid-19 virus, and he is currently undergoing treatment at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
