Covid-19 : Curfew in Western Province from tonight

Quarantine curfew will be imposed within the Western Province from midnight tonight (29), stated Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva. The curfew will be in effect until 5 a.m. on Monday (2 November). However, quarantine curfew in the areas it was already imposed (before 29 October) will continue even after Monday, stated the Army Commander. In addition, essential food item outlets and pharmacies in the provinces are requested to remain open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. today as the curfew will be in effect from tomorrow (30). After 2 November, essential food item outlets and pharmacies in the curfew areas will be allowed to operate on two days of the week assigned to the relevant district as follows.
  • Gampaha District: Every Monday and Thursday
  • Colombo District: Every Tuesday and Friday
  • Kalutara District: Every Monday and Thursday
  • Kurunegala District: Every Tuesday and Friday
