The Ministry of Health on Saturday (7) issued “Tier 3” Covid-19 preventive health guidelines to be followed by the people in areas where quarantine curfew is not imposed.
The guidelines were issued by Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena, who said the Covid-19 situation in the country was subjected to change from time to time.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka’s current Covid-19 situation has been assessed as “Tier 3”, where several clusters are active in different districts.
The health guidelines limit the number of people allowed to leave a house for essential services to two, and stipulates that institutions should provide essential services utilising the minimum possible workforce.
“Working from home is encouraged at all times at both government and private institutions. Export industries can operate in a ‘bio-secure bubble’ concept under the observation of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) of the area, and social distancing should be maintained in public,” it stated.
However, no permission would be given for indoor or outdoor events, public meetings, schools, universities, and tuition classes. Cinema halls, recreational parks, festivals, and swimming pools should also remain closed.
Restaurants can operate with 50% capacity.
