Four Covid-19 patients were arrested by the Valachchenai Police for allegedly stealing electric equipment and bathroom appliances from the Punani Treatment Centre, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said yesterday (14).
The Police Spokesman stated that they were arrested on Sunday (13), following a complaint by the Chief Medical Officer of the Punani Treatment Centre for Covid-19 patients.
“The suspects were supposed to be released from the centre following their treatment on Saturday (12), but were found stealing the equipment of the centre. The suspects were remanded till 18 December by the Valachchenai Magistrate’s Court,” he stated.
