14 Sep 2021

The $2.5 billion loan which the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) is to obtain from the international market will be secured with a lower interest rate, CPC Chairman Sumith Wijesinghe stated at a press conference yesterday (13). He made these remarks in response to a question from a journalist who asked the Chairman the progress of securing the said loan. “We contemplated obtaining loans at lower interest rates to fund the petroleum sector of the country. We have received favourable reactions. We believe we can obtain loans from those relevant corporations,” he said. Wijesinghe also expressed that earlier, the CPC’s loans obtained from the People’s Bank and the Bank of Ceylon had higher interest rates.
