The Temple of the Tooth (Dalada Maligawa), Kandy today issued a statement saying that no staff member tested positive for COVID-19 at the Maligawa.
It said that additional officers from the Kandy Police Division had been allocated to strengthen security and ensure that COVID-19 safety measures are in place within the Temple.
“The daily rituals are being carried out as usual under the guidance of the Maha Nayaka Theras of Asgiri and Malwathu Chapters and the strict supervision of Diyawadana Nilame,” it said.
Meanwhile, Kandy Police OIC said 21 police officers that were deployed to provide security at the Temple had been infected with COVID-19.
