Dayasiri Jayasekara to testify before PSC

Secretary-General of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, has been informed to appear before the Special Parliamentary Committee probing the Easter Sunday attacks convening today.

The Special Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday attacks is scheduled to reconvene at 2 p.m this afternoon at the Parliament premises.

MP Jayasekara was summoned before the committee probing the Easter Sunday attacks on 1 July, however, he refused to appear before the PSC due to several issues he has with regard to the said committee.

Jayasekara said in a press briefing earlier that he had not committed any wrongdoing by not participating in the parliamentary select committee probing the Easter attacks and that he has protected his parliamentary privileges and standing orders through that.

However, after discussions with the Parliament Speaker, Karu Jayasuriya, MP Jayasekara has agreed to appear before the committee today (10).

The committee had also informed Senior DIG of the Eastern Province and the Secretary-General to the Education Ministry in addition to the MP Jayasekara to testify before the PSC today.
