Decapitated body in bag: Police recover bloodstains at guesthouse

Police today stated that they had discovered bloodstains at the guesthouse where the couple was staying, with regard to the decapitated dead body found at Dam Street. "The Police visited the guesthouse where the Sub Inspector and the woman were staying and we discovered bloodstains especially in the washroom," stated Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana. Further, he stated that a DNA test would be conducted on the dead body due to its decapitation, and that the relatives of the woman had identified the body. It was also revealed that the suspected Sub Inspector had visited the Hanwella town on the 01 March and bought a knife and a travelling bag from two shops in the town. The autopsy of the Sub Inspector would be done in Monaragala while the autopsy of the woman would be done following the DNA test.
