The Court of Appeal has decided to announce its decision on whether or not to carry out the arrest warrants on the Mayor of Kurunegala, Thushara Sanjeewa Vitharana, and four others tomorrow (25).
The court was to earlier announce the decision today (24).
However, the Court of Appeals bench consisting of its President, Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz and Justice Sobhitha Rajakaruna has stated in open court that the verdict will be announced at 9 a.m. tomorrow and that the decision has not been prepared.
Accordingly, the order issued by the Court of Appeal to temporarily halt the execution of arrest warrants on the suspects will be effective until tomorrow.
Arrest warrants were issued on the Kurunegala Mayor and four others over the case related to their involvement in the demolition of a historically important building in Kurunegala last month.
