The Government’s decision to ban the use of chemical fertiliser was done as a trial to implement organic fertiliser in the country, according to Minister of Lands SM Chandrasena.
He made such remarks at a press conference yesterday (31).
“It was an experiment that we have carried out this year. If the results are not favourable after it is implemented during the Maha season, we requested the President to allow the use of both chemical and organic fertiliser during the next Yala season,” the Minister said.
However, he noted that for this to be done, a trial needs to be conducted first.
