Devise plans to earn foreign exchange: PM advises authorities

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa advised the relevant authorities to devise successful plans that can earn foreign exchange. The Prime Minister emphasized this at a discussion held at the Ministry of Finance with the Heads of the External Resources Department on future foreign exchange projects in Sri Lanka, the Prime Minister’s Office said. The Prime Minister also instructed that only successful projects should be considered in obtaining foreign loans and plans should be made to earn foreign exchange through those projects. The project for the Marine Resources University received special attention from the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to implement the university project with a view to develop the adjoining area as well. State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance S R Attygalle, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister, Yoshitha Rajapaksa and Director General of the External Resources Department Ajith Abeysekera were also present.
