The Government was prepared to provide necessary infrastructure facilities for courts to conduct proceedings via a digital medium if the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) was willing to implement such a methodology.
“As a ministry, we are ready to provide all necessary support, particularly in infrastructure facilities, to enable court proceedings to be carried out through an online platform. We have suggested that all proceedings be carried digitally during these Covid-19 conditions,” Minister of Justice Ali Sabry PC told The Morning.
The Minister said that already some courthouses were hearing certain cases through online platforms such as Skype.
“Hearings for remand cases are even now being conducted online. We have proposed that even the High Courts and Supreme Court hear cases online and we are ready to facilitate this once the Judicial Service Commission gives the green light.”
