Digital Vaccination ID project gets off the ground

19 May 2021

Sri Lanka’s first Digital Vaccination Identification project was launched today (19) at the Sri Lanka Army Hospital together with the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA). This special software developed by the ICTA allows for people to register online and obtain prior appointments for vaccination which will in turn issue a globally accepted digital vaccination certificate. This is expected to fast track and streamline the national vaccination drive. The ICTA developed this software on the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, with the support of the Ministry of Health. Minister Namal Rajapaksa was also keenly involved in the coordination of this effort which is one of national interest. Lalith Gamage, Chairman of ICTA and Lieutenant General Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Health were present at today’s pilot run of the software.
