Dinusha Hansani Gomes fails to live up to expectations

21 Aug 2018

One of the main medal prospects of Sri Lanka at the ongoing Asian Games in Indonesia, Dinusha Hansani Gomes, who had won a bronze medal at 48kgs women’s weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games in Australia last April, failed in all her three attempts in a bid to lift 67kgs in the same category and withdrew from her pet event on Monday, August 20 in Indonesia to the disappointment her fans. Gomes was, notably, the flag-bearer for Sri Lanka at the opening ceremony of the Indonesian Asiad, held last Saturday, August 18. The above picture shows Gomes (on far right) with her bronze medal at the women's 48kgs podium at the Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast, Australia, last April.
