Do not summon teachers for trivial & unnecessary tasks at exam halls: Teachers’ Union

01 Mar 2021

The Ceylon Teachers’ Union today said that teachers should not be summoned for trivial and unnecessary tasks at examination halls due to threat of COVID-19. “We have received complaints that teachers have been called for O/L exam duty for trivial and unnecessary tasks. We shouldn’t forget that the exam was postponed from December to March because of the danger of COVID-19 spread,” the Union said. It stated that they have received complaints of teachers roaming unnecessarily in exam halls after being summoned for trivial tasks. “Therefore, we should limit unnecessary gatherings of teachers in schools for exam duty,” a representative of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union stated. They stated that they had made a request to the Commissioner General of Examination as well to prevent such gatherings of teachers and other external parties in exam halls.
