Several leading licensed commercial banks declared their selling rate for the US dollar as Rs. 275 yesterday (15).
In the wake of the Central Bank’s decision to float the currency, the buying and selling rates of the USD have been fluctuating daily. Some licensed banks have declared their selling rate as Rs. 284 per US dollar.
The official US dollar rates announced by the Central Bank yesterday are Rs. 259.76 for the buying rate and Rs. 269.99 as the selling rate.
On 7 March, the Central Bank announced that greater flexibility would be allowed in the exchange rate with immediate effect, although it was confident the rate would not exceed Rs. 230 per US dollar.
