People’s Action For Free & Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has requested all political parties not to criticize the Constitutional Council (CC) in public just to gain political advantage.
In a letter written to party leaders, PAFFREL Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi said the CC comprises representatives of all political parties and civil society and therefore the issue should be solved within the CC without criticizing it in the public.
Public criticism could negatively affect the conduct of the independent commissions as well as the appointments made by the CC, Hettiarachchi said. (MM)
