Secretary to the Ministry of Environment Dr Anil Jasinghe has been appointed as the 4th Chairman of the Bureau of Environment Authorities for a period of one year.
This was announced by the Ministry of Environment today (06) via a Press Release.
Accordingly, Dr Jasinghe will represent the Asia-Pacific region as the Bureau chair of Environment Authorities at the forthcoming 5th General Assembly of the United Nations Environment Programme due on the 5th of February 2022.
Dr Jasinghe was elected to this position at the Asia-Pacific Environment Authorities forum which is being held these days in Suwon city in South Korea, where many Environment Ministers and senior officials representing 47 Asia-Pacific countries are in participation.
