The teacher who was arrested earlier this morning over the incident where a student drowned in the Walawe River in Balangoda, has been released on bail, stated the Balangoda Police.
The teacher was produced before Balangoda Chief Magistrate Jayaruwan Dissanayake today, where the Magistrate ordered that the teacher be released on two sureties of Rs. 100,000 each.
The suspect had escorted 15 students to the Walawe River on an excursion on Saturday (30), during which one of the students, a 16-year-old girl, had gone missing. The girl's body was found nearly two hours later.
