Two tennis balls filled with illegal drugs were found thrown into the Kandakadu Treatment Centre yesterday, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said the tennis balls containing tobacco and small quantities of heroine and cannabis were found by the military and prison officers.
“The contraband were handed over to the Welikanda Police. Though there were similar incidents reported at the Welikada and Negombo Prisons. This is the first occasion such an incident was reported from a COVID treatment centre,” he said.
