A Minister under the influence of alcohol had used a helicopter to travel to the Anuradhapura prison on Sunday (12) and created chaos by releasing prisoners and making them kneel at gunpoint, Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Rohana Bandara alleged in a video shared on social media today (14).
“Who is this Minister and why did he make this sudden trip to the prison to create chaos?” Bandara questioned.
He also noted that the Minister concerned had arrived at the prison premises at 7.00pm on Sunday (12).
Additionally, Bandara questioned the “double standards” of the Justice system and urged for the name of the Minister to be revealed to the public, stating it is the right of the people to know the truth.
When The Morning contacted Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake for comments on the matter, he stated that he is not aware of such an incident taking place.
