A heated argument broke out at a media brief held today (22) by the owners of large and medium scale rice mills regarding the price of rice.
Araliya Group owner Dudley Sirisena demanded that the price of rice must be regulated.
He added that if the government does not regulate the price of rice, the rice mills would have to be taken over by the government and paddy must be converted to rice and sold at a price determined by the government for the next 3 months.
However, New Rathna Rice Mills owner Lankeshwara Mitrapala argued that the price of rice should not be regulated, resulting in Sirisena storming out of the media brief.
