Education Ministry decides relief for Grade 5 scholarship exam

31 Jul 2020

The Ministry of Education has decided to add 15 extra minutes to the time duration given for students to answer the first question paper of the Grade Five Scholarship examination this year. The time set to answer the first question paper will be extended from the current 45 minutes to an hour. Speaking at a press conference last Wednesday (29), Minister of Education Dullas Alahapperuma said that this measure was taken to provide some relief for the students who were unable to attend school for over four months due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The Ministry has also decided to reduce the number of questions the students have to answer in the second question paper. As such, students will only have to answer three questions as opposed to the previous four questions from the second paper. The Grade Five Scholarship examination for the year 2020 is scheduled to be held on 11 October.
