President Gotabaya Rajapaksa today said that the wage increase of the estate sector will take place before the Sinhala/Tamil new year.
Rajapaksa made these comments during a meeting with Media heads at the Presidential Secretariat.
Rajapaksa during his election campaign last year promised that the daily wage of plantation workers will be increased to Rs. 1000.
He said the decision to provide the wage increase in April was made following several rounds of discussions with Regional Plantation Companies (RPCs) and trade unions.
