Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe today (12) said that the decision to exempt China from Sri Lanka's quarantine list was based on scientific factors.
Speaking at a press conference today Jasinghe said that China was reporting close to 20 patients per day which was a massive drop since the outbreak.
"Following a risk assessment, we have come to the understanding that the probability of contracting the coronavirus from a Chinese national has significantly dropped. That is why we have not included China in the quarantine list," Jasinghe pointed out.
The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday (11) said that close to 181 Chinese tourists had entered the country without having been subject to quarantine procedures.
