A 24 year-old suspect has been arrested over the theft of a necklace worth Rs. 300,000, owned by a 23 year-old female of the Kotugoda area in Seeduwa.
Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana says that the two youths connected over Facebook.
“The 23 year old received a friend request from the 24 year-old suspect. Following this, the suspect was invited to the victim’s residence. On Saturday (31), the suspect was invited once more. However, the victim noticed that after the suspect left her residence, a necklace worth Rs. 300,000 was missing,” Senior DIG Rohana stated.
Accordingly, a complaint had been lodged with the Seeduwa Police and the suspect has been arrested.
The complainant had also recalled that during the first visit, a bracelet had also gone missing.
The suspect is to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate today (02).
