Famed ballet dancer and founder of the Oosha Garten School of Ballet, Kalasuri Oosha Saravanamuttu-Wijesinghe (83) passed away last morning (24).
Within a few hours of her passing, her husband, Mohan Wijesinghe (80) too passed away peacefully yesterday.
Oosha Saravanamuttu was a great contributor to the Sri Lankan arts and culture and was honoured with the Kalasuri national award.
She was a pioneer in the art of ballet and has mentored hundreds of students since the year 1964, she was also a well-known pianist, violinist and choreographer.
Her funeral will be held at the Old Crematorium, Borella General Cemetery today (25) at 4 p.m while her husband's funeral will also be held at the New Crematorium, Borella General Cemetery tomorrow, June 26.
