The missing teen from the Navinna area of Maharagama has returned back home safely, The Morning learns. The reason for her running away had been a family argument, which had prompted the teen to seek solace at a monastery. Speaking to a spokesperson from the Sri Lanka Police media unit, C I Mahakumara confirmed that the girl had run away from due to an argument with the parents. "Neha Kaumadi Herath has had an argument with her mother the day before she had dissapeared. Due to this, she decided to run away and stayed in a monastery for female clergy. When Neha saw her picture circulated on media, she had called her mother and the family was re-united once again," said Mahakumara. He further added that if not for the support of the public and media, Neha would have never been found in such a short period of time. "Children are at a risk when there is domestic violence in homes. They become vulnerable and make decisions they do not know the repercussions of. Thankfully, she went to a monastery, if she had gone anywhere else her safety would have been compromised, " he concluded. Kaumadi Herath, aged 14 years, ran away from home on the 7th of January to which her family had lodged a police entry and thereafter the police had sought the assistance of the general public in locating the teenager.
