Former Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National List parliamentarian Jayantha Ketagoda was last week given a farewell party by the SLPP parliamentary group.
The farewell party was held in the parliamentary complex last Tuesday (20). The event was attended by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and a large number of SLPP MPs.
Ketagoda resigned from Parliament earlier this month in order to make way for Basil Rajapaksa to enter.
Declining posts
Meanwhile, Ketagoda has so far turned down several appointments presented to him by the Government, it is learnt.
Ketagoda was reportedly offered the chairmanship of a key state institution as well as a diplomatic posting in a Sri Lankan mission overseas.
However, he had turned down the offers made to him, saying he had not resigned from Parliament with the expectation of receiving any other appointments or perks.
According to Ketagoda, his wish is to support Basil Rajapaksa and engage in a political journey with him.
