Female arrested over alleged involvement in extremism classes conducted by Zaharan

The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) has arrested a 24-year-old female from Hingula, Mawanella yesterday for allegedly involving in classes conducted by Zaharan Hashim on extremism and wahabism,  Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said today. He said the TID investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks had revealed that main suspect Zaharan had conducted several classes of wahabism and extremism for women. Accordingly, the TID has arrested six women on December 7, 2020 and they have been detained at the CID. "Another woman who was involved in classes of wahabism and extremism has been arrested by the TID from Hingula, Mawanella yesterday.  The TID obtained a detention order to detain and interrogate the suspect. Three of her brothers and the father have also been arrested earlier over the Easter Sunday attacks and vandalising Buddha statues," the DIG said.
