Reopening airports | Final decision on reopening airports this week: AASL

19 Aug 2020

By Skandha Gunasekara
Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. (AASL) expects to finalise the procedures for the reopening of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this week. “We are currently trying to work out how the entire process would work if we are to reopen the airport. We hope to finalise it this week and have a country list thereafter,” AASL Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd.) G.A. Chandrasiri said. He said that the authorities were finding it difficult to formulate a green list of countries, from which to accept travellers. “It is hard to complete a list because every day some new country has Covid problems, so the list has to reconfigured.” He said the authorities were looking at reopening BIA by mid-September.
