A final decision on school exams will be reached by next week, according to Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena.
Gunawardena made this announcement during the Cabinet press briefing held today.
Giving due consideration to the concerns raised by students sitting for their Advanced Level (A/L) examinations, the Ministry of Education last month announced it would reconsider the date for the exams once schools commence.
Ministry of Education Secretary N.H.M. Chithrananda announced that a special committee under his supervision has been appointed to consider the proposals that will be collected by the regional directors of education.
The GCE A/L examination for 2020 (local) was set to be held from 7 September to 2 October previously. However, the delay in reopening schools raised concerns about the timing.
