First consignment of Sinopharm arrives in Sri Lanka

A consignment of 600,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines sent from China arrived in Sri Lanka this morning and was received by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). The SriLankan Airlines flight UL 869 from Beijing, China arrived at the airport at 11.28 am today (31). The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, State Ministers Prof. Channa Jayasumana and Sudarshani Fernandopulle were also present at the airport to receive the consignment, which was donated to Sri Lanka by the Chinese Government. Meanwhile, the first phase of the 'Sinoform' vaccine will be distributed to Chinese nationals in four parts of the country from next week, said specialist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera. Accordingly, the Chinese will be vaccinated in Colombo, Kandy, Puttalam and Hambantota.
