First consignment of Sputnik vaccine arrives in Sri Lanka

The first consignment of Russian-made 'Sputnik V' Covid vaccines has arrived in Sri Lanka. Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana was present at the Katunayake Airport to receive the consignment containing 15,000 doses of vaccines. After receiving the vaccines, the consignment was handed over to the Ministry of Health. In addition to the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine, the Russian-made 'Sputnik V' Covid control vaccine was recently approved for emergency use in Sri Lanka. Cabinet approval has been granted to purchase 07 million doses of the vaccine at a cost of US $ 69.65 million.
