No state ceremonies or events will be held to mark President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s first-year anniversary in office on 18 November, in keeping with the policy set out by the President, it was reported.

The President has also called upon those willing to wish him not to organise special events incurring unnecessary expenditure, the report added.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa was elected the seventh Executive President of Sri Lanka on 16 November 2019 and took the oath of office on 18 November 2019.
A special address to the nation by the President will be telecast at 8.30 p.m. tomorrow (18) on all television and radio channels.
