Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dilip Wedaarachchi said the prices of fish have gone up after he consumed raw fish at a news briefing to allay fears.
The Hambantota District MP who visited the Tangalle Fisheries Harbour today said fish prices have gone up by Rs.50 to Rs.60.
“I ate raw fish for the fishermen. I’m happy I was able to do this though I was called many names especially by the Pohottuwa critics,” he said.
He said he received a phone call from a fish vendor from Kandy who appreciated his efforts.
“The vendor said fish prices have gone up now and that customers also buy fish without fear,” the MP said.
