Five suspects arrested in drug racket in Panadura

According to a long-running investigation conducted by the Panadura Walana Central Anti-Narcotics Unit, a drug racket was successfully raided yesterday (16), Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said. The money related to the racket was deposited in bank accounts and the drugs were smuggled to various places by alerting the relevant persons over the phone. A 41-year-old woman from the Kalagedihena area in Thihariya was arrested during the raid and four mobile phones and 13 ATM cards were found in the suspect's possession. A 50-year-old resident of Hanwella who had been maintaining bank accounts in the names of various persons who had assisted in the racket has also been arrested. Eight ATM cards and Rs. 720,000 were found in his possession. Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that 5 persons involved in drug trafficking have been arrested in the Southern Province. A 42-year-old man was arrested with 190 grams of heroin in Wewahamadduma, Matara, a 27-year-old man with 160 grams of heroin in Matara Fort and three persons were arrested with heroin in Weligama. The total amount of heroin in their possession was 650 grams. It has been revealed that the drug lord is Nadun Chinthana alias Harak Kata who is currently operating in the state of Dubai. Police Media Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana stated that he has been identified as one of the main suppliers of the drug network in Sri Lanka. It has also been revealed that the suspects had been in contact with Nadun Chinthana alias Harak Kata through the Imo app.
