Follow standards at least when next tourist flights arrive: SJB urges govt.

03 Jan 2021

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) urged the government to adhere to standards adopted by the health authorities when the next flights carrying tourists arrive in Sri Lanka. Addressing a news briefing, SJB MP Dr. Harsha De Silva said there were a number of shortcomings in the procedure followed by the authorities to bring down Ukrainian tourists and in the plan of showing them around the country. “The standard quarantine period for anyone is 14 days but for these tourists it’s only seven days. If the government itself can’t follow standards, then don’t bring the tourists. Nine more tourist flights are to arrive and we urge the government to follow proper standards at least when the next flights come,” he said.
