A foreigner today claimed she was harassed at Galle Face Green last evening by a group of locals. In a facebook post the foreigner says she was first harassed and insulted by a man while she and her friends had gone for a walk to Galle Face. The foreigner claims the man who was 'clearly drunk' was later joined by 10 of his friends. "First we didn’t react to it, but he and around 10 of his friends followed us. When my friend tried to protect me and asked him to stop, that guy attacked him. We all tried to talk to him, and my friend tried to get a hold of him to calm him down. In this moment he was hit by four of the others. We were overwhelmed by this attack and surrounded by all of them." the foreigner said. "We were trying to separate the attackers, but only when I took out my phone to take a video, some of them decided to deescalate the situation. However, this guy didn’t care about it and hit the phone out of my hand and kept trying to continue fighting. In this moment, I felt, that they wouldn’t have any issue to even hit me in my face." The foreigner said she had called the police and that the police had arrived after 20 minutes. She said the group had left by the time the police arrived.
