Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana today stated that four fatal accidents have been reported during the last 24 hours while 173 arrested for driving under influence.
The accidents have been reported from the Katuwala, Pannala, Ella and Rakwana Police areas. "Within the period where the traffic operations were imposed, which was since 20th December, a total of 1,571 persons have been arrested for drunk driving. Further, 136 persons have been critically injured in road accidents," he said. He urged the public to take precautionary measures as the tendency of road accidents will prevail due to the festive season and the current weather.
