Four schools in Angunakolapelessa to be developed as national schools

The Ministry of Education has decided to develop four schools in Angunakolapelessa and Weeraketiya as National Schools under the programme to instate 1000 schools as national schools, said the Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera today (08). A meeting of the District Development Committee was held at the Hambantota District Secretariat recently and was attended by Ministers Mahinda Amaraweera, Chamal Rajapaksa as well as officials in the Education Ministry and the Hambantota District Secretary. The Minister of Environment requested that steps be taken to develop four schools belonging to the Angunakolapelessa and Weeraketiya Divisional Development Committees, chaired by the Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera. Accordingly, Kotawaya Maha Vidyalaya, Thalawa Maha Vidyalaya and Udayala Maha Vidyalaya belonging to the Agunakolapelessa Regional Development Committee and D.A.Rajapaksa Maha Vidyala in Weeraketiya are to be developed as National Schools. The Minister made these remarks while participating in a program to provide the Weeraketiya MoH Offices and Family Health Officers with the necessary dry food items and sanitizer kits to protect them from the Covid 19 pandemic. Mahinda Amaraweera has taken steps to provide all the MoH Offices and the Family Health Service Officers in the Hambantota District with the necessary dry rations as well as health care kits to assist them in their efforts to control the Covid 19 pandemic.
