France end 31-year long wait

14 Jul 2021

France came out victorious after last week’s heartbreak, as they scored a 78th-minute penalty to steal the win in the second Test at Melbourne yesterday (13). The visitors put first points on board in the second minute through a penalty from Melvyn Jaminet.

The Wallabies responded immediately through a try from Marika Koreibete, after receiving an inside ball from Matt To’uma in their own half. He cut back through the middle to go all the way.

Unfortunately, ‘TMO’ intervened and spotted a knock on, in the build up to overrule the try.

Jaminet added another three pointer for France while Noah Lolesio added the first points for the hosts in the 17th minute.

The first try of the game came through French winger Damien Penuad. Initially, the Aussie fullback Tom Banks had a big break but the ball went loose and the French strung together few phases and opened up space for Penaud to run over the whitewash. Jaminet added the extras and followed with another penalty while Lolesio converted a penalty on the other side.

After Le Bleu beat Wallabies by 28-26, the series stands now at 1-1 and to be decided on 17 July.
