Furious Wimalaweera slams SLPPers in filth

27 Sep 2021

A fiery argument broke out between State Minister of Wildlife Protection Wimalaweera Dissanayake and other Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs at a meeting held at the Dehiattakhandiya Town Hall yesterday (26) where he took to the stand amidst hooting, and shouted at SLPP protesters using profanities. The Morning consulted Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Nihal Thalduwa in regards to this matter, who admitted that there was a brawl at the political meeting which was quickly dispersed by the area Police Officer In Charge. When further queried as to why there is no such code of conduct for Parliamentarians in a public setting or a law against such erratic behavior, Thalduwa laughed in reply and stated that he would not like to comment on that question. In attendance at the meeting were other SLPP MP's, including the Former State Minister of Prisons and Prisoners Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte. Other media institutions, journalists and Buddhist clerics were at the receiving end of Wimalaweera's barrage of filth as well.
