Gazette to prorogue Parliament to be issued tonight
The Gazette notification announcing the prorogation of Parliament will be issued tonight.
The Gazette signed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been sent to the Government Printer for publication.
The President is vested with the powers to prorogue Parliament under Article 70 of the Constitution.
The first parliamentary session after the presidential polls was scheduled to be held tomorrow (Dec 3).
According to reports, the start of the new Parliamentary session is expected to be fixed for early next week.
