GCE AL exams to be delayed

04 Jul 2022

GCE Advanced Level Exams could be delayed by one month, says Education Minister Susil Premajayantha. He made this statement while speaking in Parliament today (04). He further noted that attempts are made by the Ministry of Education to digitalise the education system. "Look at the rest of the world, the education system is digitalised. This is the only way forward, and this needs to be implemented. With the digitalisation of the education system, we are able to allocate the relevant subject teachers to teach the subjects they specialise in. By November, we will be initiating this disgitalisation and by January next year we should have made some progress," he noted. Additionally, Minister Premachandra stated that for students who have been affected by the Covid 19 pandemic, additional support will be given to such students. "We are attempting to make sure students who have lagged back in their studies due to the pandemic will be given extra support classes and we intend on cutting down on extra holidays and use the days of the academic year to cover the syllabus," he said.
