By Maheesha Mudugamuwa The gazette pertaining to Covid-19-related health guidelines, issued for the general public and for the parliamentary election under the Quarantine Act, is to be issued tonight (22), Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Anil Jasinghe told the media yesterday (21). He said that this gazette contains health recommendations that must be followed in accordance with the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Ordinance. Accordingly, all district returning officers are to be informed about the aforementioned gazette notification with regard to the upcoming parliamentary polls. Further, steps have been taken to legalise the health guidelines to be followed in dealing with the daily life of the general public through the relevant gazette, Dr. Jasinghe added. The gazette is being issued following requests made by both public health inspectors (PHIs) and members of the Election Commission (EC), who highlighted the necessity of gazetting the guidelines under the Quarantine Act to make sure they are strictly followed by the public and by political parties, politicians, and their supporters during election campaigns.
