General public paying for losses of 32 state enterprises: Charitha Herath

22 Nov 2021

The general public is now paying for the serious losses which have been incurred by 32 state enterprises says Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Charitha Herath. He made this statement during a media brief yesterday (21). "32 enterprises of the government have incurred serious losses, and these are now being recovered through the general public’s funds. This is a big problem. This is why we are looking at ways and means to reduce these losses and cut down the additional expenses which must be recovered from the general public which will be beneficial to them. We are also looking at strengthening the government enterprises so that they will not be in a state of loss," he said. Herath added that the government’s job was to inform the respective ministries of these pitfalls, and it was the duty of the ministry and the ministers to attend to the matters and look into prospective alternates to improve and reduce losses.
