Today marks 20 years since the horrendous terrorist attacks perpetrated on the United States of America (USA) which led to many losing their lives and limbs.
The Government of Sri Lanka expressed its solidarity to the people and government of the USA as they commemorate a very traumatic episode in history, also wishing to pay tribute to the many victims and survivors of the dastardly attacks.
The media release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs went on to say that the Government of Sri Lanka wishes to reiterate the need for all countries to unite in eliminating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
The September 11 attacks, often referred to as 9/11, were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the militant Islamist terrorist group al-Qaeda against the United States of America on the 11th of September, 2001.
