A laboratory employee attached to the Government Analyst’s Department has been arrested with 18.7 g of heroin.
The Police said the suspect was arrested Sunday evening (16) in the Moratuwahena area in Athurugiriya by the Athurugiriya Police.
The arrest was made while police officials were inspecting a motorcycle on suspicions based on a tip-off, the Police said.
The suspect has been identified as a 28-year-old resident of Matara. He was to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court yesterday (17).
Meanwhile, another employee of the Government Analyst’s Department with narcotic drugs was arrested by the Athurugiriya Police.
Reportedly, 15 g of heroin, 25 g of Ice, a measuring scale, and a motorcycle found in the possession of the suspect have been taken into custody.
