The Government is refusing to reveal the oil price formula, even under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake told Parliament today.
Dissanayake said that no one in the Government seems to be aware of how the formula works.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe responded saying that a committee had been appointed to decide on the formula.
He also said that the US sanctions expected to be implemented on Iran in November will impact oil prices.
He said there is a fear oil prices will increase further as a result of the sanctions.
